UPDATE: Continuous Learning Plan for PEABODY-BURNS Schools
For the past 10 days we have seen a great amount of change and re-evaluation of procedures concerning the schools and public with each 24 hour cycle in the Nation, the State, and our Community.
During this past week of Spring Break administration has been working to gather information and make plans to put into effect 1) safety decisions as it applies to children and staff, 2) provide a free breakfast and lunch program for all children 1-18, and 3) create a learning plan to the best of our ability with the resources at our disposal.
The staff will be returning from Spring Break the week of March 23rd. During that time, principals and teachers will be developing lessons for our students with guidance and information provided Friday morning from KSDE. This material has been provide from an Elite Educational Task Force that spent the last week working toward providing districts (teachers/administration) with information needed to be successful in the Continuous Leaning environment that we are finishing the school year with. Teachers will be contacting parents early next week gathering information pertinent to the lessons. It is our goal to begin offering continuous learning opportunities to students the week of March 30rd. We are prepared to offer meal service to students during the closure. These details are provided on the district’s web site NEWS section, and building Facebook.
Administration is currently developing a process and timeline for students and families to pick up their personal belongings and medications from schools. It is our intent for this to take place toward the end of week of March 23rd and be completed by the first of the week of March 30th at the latest. How this happens will be affected by what Health Measures are in affect at this time.
As everyone is aware, all activities and group gatherings of any kind is prohibited by schools at this time. Of all these events, graduation garners the most regret. Our seniors and their families have nearly reached a significant milestone at Peabody-Burns Public Schools. The district intends to focus on helping seniors meeting their graduation requirements and honor the graduating class of 2020. At this time, we do not know a date, time, or location as this will be contingent on guidance from the CDC, KDHE, and the Marion County Health Department. We will continue to evaluate the situation and provide information when it is relevant.
Please be mindful of the following:
